TRIP 10 - Coal Archives

Located at Lady Victoria.

The “containers“ of large artefacts and the store of plans, photographs and much more will be available to view on this special trip.

A climb up the headgear may also be possible for the splendid overview (good photo opportunity) depending on weather and numbers.

TRIP 11 - Almond Valley

Heritage Centre / Shale Mine Tour.

This is a coach trip with a guide - Dr Barbra Harvie (School of Geoscience at the University of Edinbugh). The trip will follow on from the morning lecture on the Shale Oil Industry. The Shale Oil Industry was famous in this region for the Production of Paraffin.
