Talks

The theme of the conference will be ’50 Years of Mine Exploration’.  Fifty years ago, there was little interest in industrial archaeology and many important mine sites were lost to neglect or the bulldozer.  Many more would have been permanently lost but for the efforts of mine explorers.

This year we are trying something a bit different.  There will be two parallel sets of talks taking place at the same time during Saturday and Sunday.  One will be more academic while the other will look at practical mine exploration in the UK and abroad.  Seating in each of the rooms will be limited to about 50 persons so if you wish to attend a particular talk arrive on time.

If you click the talk title you can get a summary of its content.

We feel that Friday evening should be an informal and relaxing time to meet up with old acquaintances and have a drink.  As a result, there will be no formal talk apart from a welcome from the Chairman of the Shropshire Caving & Mining Club.  There may be videos to watch if there is a demand.
